Crude Oil Demulsifier Separator
(PERTAMINA PHE OSES)
The most important objective of any oil production facility is the separation of water from produced crude. The quick and efficient breaking of these emulsions is essential to meet tight downstream crude oil specifications. In general, crude oil is produced as a water-in-oil emulsion and demulsifiers are necessary for breaking such emulsions. The factors involved in treating emulsions include breaking the film surrounding the small water droplets and coalescing the droplets to produce larger drops. Finally, the water drops settle during or after their coalescence
Demulsifiers can also perform the functions of a free water knockout, an electrostatic treater, a coalescer, a desalter, and a heater treater. Produced gas is taken out of the liquid and discharged at the top of the vessel
Gas Inlet Filter
(PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM – PHM)
A plant inlet filter is a pressure vessel with an opening enclosure at one end to remove the filter elements. It is located at the origin of a natural gas processing plant and is designed to remove solids from the inlet gas stream. In the extensive gas facilities, it is often positioned downstream of the inlet separator, after the liquids separate from the inlet gas stream. However, in smaller gas plants, the inlet filter may also act as the inlet separator, taking on a dual-purpose role. Often, pressure vessel fabricators and designers add a collection vessel underneath horizontal filters to collect any free liquids
Pig Launcher/Receiver
(PERTAMINA EP ZONA 7)
A key part of Pipeline Maintenance Program is a procedure called in-line inspection, also referred to as pigging. One of the most effective ways to do this is with pipeline inspection guages, or pigs to perform the operations on the pipeline without interrupting flow and the launchers/receivers also known as scraper traps that facilitate the process.
Once introduced into the pipeline via the pig trap, the launcher is closed and the pig is forced through the pipeline by pressure of the product flow until it reaches the receiver, or pig trap. As the pig moves through the pipeline it effectively cleans and clears plugs by sweeping the sides and pushing plugs and debris ahead where it can be cleared at the trap.
Calming Baffle
(PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM – PHM)
A calming baffle is a particular kind of perforated plate commonly used to prevent and eliminate flow turbulences inside the treatment plants and to introduce the two-phase liquid flow in the settling compartment with a laminar flow regime, as in the picture above.
The calming process of the flow rate is very useful because it provides the best performances from the parallel plate pack located after the calming baffle: when the liquid flow enters with regular distribution and speed, the separation process can immediately start. Without a calming baffle, the liquid distribution can be very chaotic and the performance of the plate pack decreases consistently.
Instrument Gas Coalescer
(PERTAMINA PHE ONWJ)
Gas cleanliness requirements from gas turbine manufacturers dictates the gas to be clean, dry and free of liquids. Coalescer Filters are used to remove the solid and liquid particles from the gas stream. Pipeline quality gas is not clean enough for the gas turbines and thus the need for filter coalescers. Coalescing, by definition, means “to come together”. It is a continuous process by which small aerosols come in contact with the fibers in filter media, uniting with other collected aerosols & growing to emerge as a droplet in downstream surface of media which is capable of being gravitationally drained.
Fuel Gas Scrubber
(PERTAMINA EP ZONA 14)
Gas Scrubber is a cleaning installation whose main function is to neutralize harmful components in industrial air or waste gas streams, for example to prevent fumes that have an irritating effect or cause odor nuisance. The gas particles causing these problems have to be removed from the gas stream during the process, before the gases may be disposed in the open air. In some cases, the use of a gas scrubber additionally may allow to recover certain raw materials after the treatment. A big advantage is the versatility of a gas scrubber in different sectors, including the chemical industry, the pharmaceutical industry and surface treatment.
